Isle of Wight 2008
Ruislip Northwood Swim Club Masters returned triumphant from the Isle of Wight Masters Open Meet last weekend.
A squad of eighteen swimmers accompanied by coach Ron Gilder competed against thirty other clubs in over 170 races across two days of intensive competition.
Ruislip Northwood were determined to overturn last year’s result, when they were beaten into second place by the Royal Navy by just fifteen points.
Their mission was accomplished with such aplomb that the “Heights” team trophy was awarded to Ruislip Northwood before the final session commenced, as they had amassed such a total score that they could not be caught even though there were still ten events to go!
In total, Ruislip Northwood swimmers won 141 individual medals and five relay medals. Final scores were read out in reverse order, and in third place were
King's Cormorants on 127, in second was the Royal Navy on 135, and Champions Ruislip Northwood had a hugely impressive 305 points!!
