Lane 4 swimmer Karen Butterworth and her husband Andrew volunteered at this year's Women's European Championships. They worked at Brentford Community Stadium and other sites in London culminating in a long day assisting fans at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 31st July. They were lucky enough to get tickets in the volunteers' ballot to watch the final and see England beat Germany by two goals to one in extra time. Well deserved all round!! |
Paul Catherall and I (Martin Appleby) may not have won the Top Team trophy for RNSC, but we did enjoy some good swims:
The Barnet Copthall meet is possibly the best Open Masters event outside of the National Championship meets, with competitors coming from as far away as Devon, Wales and Ireland. 3 World records, 1 European and 2 British Masters records were set. |
