Roy has completed his last competition of 2025, swimming 7 events, winning 3 Gold medals and 4 Silvers. He also recorded a 2025 PB for his 100m Medley.

Bowling evening November 2025

Following a bite to eat at Cassio Lounge in Watford, 12 of us met at Hollywood Bowl for a couple of games of ten-pin bowling.

We had 2 teams with 6 players each:

A fun evening was had by all!

Congratulations to Stuart, who completed an Ironman event in Mt. St. Michel Normandy, France.

This involved a 3.8km swim in a river/sea inlet, followed by a 180km cycle around the French countryside, followed by a marathon, which took place around the Mt. St Michel Island, running backwards and forwards to the island 4 times, the first lap of which involved climbing to the summit.

He completed the event in just over 14.5 hours, starting at 8am and finishing around 10.30pm. The swim took around 90 minutes, the bike ride around 7 hours and the run around 5.5 hours.

South East Region Masters Championships 2025

We had three swimmers representing the club at this event, which had qualifying times to be able to enter. It was broadcast on YouTube so all successes and mistakes are laid bare for all to see!

Lynda had a clean sweep of golds and so is a triple SE England champion. Her 200m backstroke was only her second attempt at this distance and she secured a time which is a Phase 2 National time, as are her two other distances.

Paul managed to become the 200m breaststroke SE England champion with a PB by 6 seconds.

Helen recorded the most impressive improvement with three PBs, including breaking 4 minutes for the 200m breaststroke. She is also now just 1 second from the Phase 2 National time for the 100m breaststroke.

Barnet Copthall Sprint Meet 2025

Four swimmers represented RNSC at this year's Barnet Copthall Sprint Meet.

We brought home a total of 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

Unfortunately Mike G was unable to attend. We missed you Mike, you would have collected a few more gold medals!

Clair and Helen were in a rather full and fast age group so the medals were tougher to win, but great to see that they are getting faster. Well done on your new PBs!

Berks & South Bucks Masters Meet 2025

Four swimmers represented RNSC at the Berks & South Bucks Masters Meet in Maidenhead.

We brought home a total of 9 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze medals....

Canal boat trip

On a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon, 15 of us travelled to London’s Paddington Basin, where we
boarded two boats for a trip along the canal.

As we meandered along, soaking up the sun and tucking in to our snacks and drinks, it was great to
take in the sights of some of London’s scenery from a different perspective. We even got to see the
black and white Colobus monkeys in the old Aviary at London Zoo (now called Monkey Valley).

Big thanks to Kevin, Paul and Duncan who skippered the boats and successfully navigated us through
a couple of long dark tunnels, whilst one or two others decided to see how loud the echo would
be!

A fun and relaxing afternoon was had by all.

Barnet Copthall Distance Meet 2025

Well done to all the RNSC swimmers who competed at the Barnet Copthall Distance Meet on 5th & 6th July.

I think it's fair to say that we were all pleased with our results. We were all quick off the blocks and swam well, even if we had a couple of wonky turns or wished we didn't have to swim all 8 lengths of the 200m. Our commiserations go to Paul, who missed his 200m breaststroke race due to a traffic holdup on his journey to the pool.

Joelie's 44 mile run!

On 24 May I completed the Classic Quarter - a 44 mile ultra run from Lizard Point to Lands End along the SW Coastal Path. It was definitely an adventure. The path is tricky and technical at points, so the chance to enjoy the spectacular coastal views can be limited. However I enjoy that part of Ultra running as it keeps my brain occupied. The hardest part was the flat 14km along the concrete from Maurzion to Mousehole through Penzance. I definitely had a couple of sense of humour failures through this part! It was a warmish and humid day, so when I reached Lamora Cove after 7 and a bit hours I was a bit hot. Unfortunately my salty crisps and electrolytes didn't bring me back to life, so that last 3 hours were an effort.

Still the views of the ocean and the Minak Theatre kept me going. 10h 34 mins after starting I crossed the finish line and finished 5th in my age group.
