| Firstly, Martin gave us a reminder of the points awarded for competing over the whole year, followed by the presentation of trophies by Paul our Chairman. Roy topped the table again for the men with an impressive tally of points, and Lynda crept ahead of a tightly contested table for the women’s trophy - many congratulations to them and everybody else who competed this year. Full results can be seen here. |
| The final award, the David Dines Memorial Trophy, given by our chairman for services to the club, went to Martin. Paul advised us of the multiple areas Martin is involved in, including writing and organising the schedules, co-ordinating competition entries and collating results, meeting and greeting prospective new members, repairing the pace clock and many other tasks to help keep the club running smoothly. Thank you Martin. |
Next came the time to exercise our brains not our bodies. Joelie and Rod gave us a taxing challenge to re-order six people in a line, obeying the rules of the game - a hubbub of noise ensued with an eventual winner declared while the rest of us were tying ourselves in knots. A swimming quiz proved more than a challenge and some surprising facts - who knew the world record for holding your breath under water was nearly 30 minutes?!
The well supported raffle gave us a rest - thanks to Jill and Karen for co-ordinating this - followed by another tricky tower building task and a music lyric quiz with a twist. Thanks to Rod and Joelie for the games interludes.
Thank you to everyone for attending - see you all next year.
