Well done to our competitors at the Barnet Copthall Distance Meet. Our team of five brought home a good medal haul and there were a couple of good PBs as well.
Martin was the only RNSC competitor at this meet, and was also the only male in his age group. So despite achieving 'Personal Worsts' in all 4 races, he won 4 gold medals.
Helen was our sole intrepid traveller to venture to Aberdeen for this long course event. In Helen's own words: "I competed in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke, this is the first time at Nationals and had a great time. It was amazing to learn so much and be inspired by so many fast swimmers. I am very grateful to our friends at Barnet Copthall who adopted me for the weekend and invited me out for several good meals. Here are my times : now looking at Europeans and Worlds in 2027!
Our team of 6 raced at the London Aquatic Centre, the 50 metre Olympic pool. Generally we were pleased with our times and coped well with the 50m pool (except me!). A strong swim from Helen in the 200m breaststroke has enabled her to meet the qualifying time for national events. Lynda and Clair, in adjacent lanes, entertained with a synchro performance in the 100m backstroke, with Clair just pulling ahead in the last 25m. A strong 200m breaststroke from Paul won him a bronze, and Roy's 100m backstroke won him a gold. Martin messed up both dive starts and the only turn, enough said. Roy was our only representative at the Newmarket Masters Meet. He won gold medals in each of his six races, but had no challengers in his age group this time (80-84yrs). His race times are what really count!

Our team of six swimmers brought home a load of medals and RNSC finished 7th overall (out of 15 teams), thanks to the 4 girls achieving 5th in the women's points table and the 2 boys finishing 12th in the men's points table. It was a fun competition with all of us finishing close to, or faster than our entry times. There were no embarrassing dives, turns or DQs!  Here is our medal list:
No one can accuse Roy of not 'Going for it'! Roy entered 6 races at the Royal Navy Open Meet and won 4 Gold and 2 Silver medals. He has moved up to the 80-84 age group this year and there are fewer competitors to challenge him, which makes his race times more important than collecting medals. Roy swam faster than his 2025 races in 3 events, which are marked with an asterisk*.
Clair, Helen and Martin represented RNSC at the Hemel meet and returned with 3 Golds, 2 Silvers and 2 Bronze medals. More impressive was the haul of 9 PBs by Clair and Helen at this event!
