Martin was the sole RNSC representative at this event, taking bronze with a time of 27:23.
Full meet results Roy competed in this event and came back with the following medal haul:
Congratulations to Paul C on bringing back two gold medals from the South East England Short Course Championships. It was worth the slog around the M25 to be RNSC's solo representative at this event. Good strategy resulted in good finishes in both of Paul's races. Paul was particularly pleased with his 200m race, finishing strongly and overtaking the 2nd place. He was also rewarded with PBs for both, and managed to overtake his long-standing rival in the Swim England rankings.
Well done Paul!
For those interested, the two full sessions were livestreamed and are available on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3O3mrKq5xo&t=3344s www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVCwFrZhj2o Paul's races were events 5 and 21 on the videos. After a one-man showing at last week's Berks and South Bucks meet it was good to have a team of five represent RNSC Masters at Sunday's Barnet Copthall Sprint meet.
As usual the meet was well organised and well attended. The organiser, Ian Woollard was briefly caught off-guard when, at the start of a pre-arranged event, he announced 'Over to you Referee', and the officials and competitors burst into song - Happy Birthday Ian! On to the 'serious stuff'....... Between us we did 23 races. Here's our medal haul:
Full results: Martin was the sole RNSC representative at this meet. Sadly the meet was not well supported this year, and with no challengers in his age group, he came away with 5 gold medals by beating no one!
Congratulations to our 4 swimmers who competed at this event and brought back another haul of medals! This meet draws fast swimmers from all over England. Four records were broken - 2 European and 2 British. Most notable was Edward Hoy from Shrewsbury, aged 95, who finished 800m freestyle in a time of 23:02.82 which was a new European Masters record. Here's the results from our team: *Unfortunately Paul C was disqualified in his 200m breaststroke race. Those eagle-eyed judges love spotting asymmetrical hands on the turns.
And there was more sporting action away from the swimming pool on Sunday...
Roy and Martin represented RNSC at the annual Newmarket meet (the one for swimmers, not horses). An enjoyable day. A well run and very friendly meet. Good swims from Dan in the Guernsey Masters meet!
Dan, swimming for the Met Police Masters, brought home 7 medals from the Guernsey meet: 4 silver and 3 bronze. He posted some significant PBs as you can see below: Entry times 》 Race times Fly 36.38 》34.57 400m 5.43.34 》5.32.95 100m free 1.25.00?! 》1.04.60 50m back 38.89 》34.46 200m free 3.00.05 》2.28.61 100m IM 1.25.42 》1.19.95 50m free 29.19 》29.46 Congratulations to Roy for a formidable start on his bid to reclaim the RNSC Best Man award in 2023!
Roy was RNSC's only representative at the Marlins Masters Meet on the Isle of Wight in February. Having entered nearly every event, he barely had time to dry off between races. Rumour has it that he was still eating his lunch as he climbed onto the block to start the afternoon session. Having won so many points for his placings, he was ranked in 3rd place for the top male swimmer award and he single-handedly took RNSC into 10th out of 30 clubs in the final points table! He also came 3rd in the 'Charles Ambler Trophy' (for the most events entered) with 10 events swum. Well done on your times and medal haul! |
