After two years without swimming competitions due to the Covid pandemic and lockdowns, the race calendar this year provided a welcome return to the blocks for three RNSC swimmers.
Chris S. saved himself for the National Short Course Championships in Sheffield at the end of October, bringing home a gold, a silver and a bronze medal for his 4 races.
Paul C. has been chasing breaststroke times at 3 competitions this year, bringing home 2 gold and 2 bronze medals.
Martin A. attended 4 competitions and won 4 gold, 5 silver and a bronze medal. Loading the results into the RNSC spreadsheet makes it look as if I am a clear winner, however I must point out that there were very few competitors in my age group at the competitions that I attended.

The competitions were all well organised and well run. We shared a laugh or two with fellow competitors and officials who gave up their time to ensure we had a good race. We enjoyed our races, even if we wished we had achieved faster times – which is why we will be training hard again next year.
There are plenty of empty spaces on the chart, just waiting for more swimmers to join us. We hope that some of you will join us for a race or two in 2023. Look out for news of competitions on this website, or check the Swim England website for races further afield. Remember to sign up for ‘Compete’ membership when you pay your annual Swim England subs if you want to race.
We hope to see you on the blocks!
